MEET OUR RIDING INSTRUCTOR/HORSE TRAINER
Meet our Riding Instructor/Horse Trainer
Dee Packard, of Spoiled Rotten Sporthorses, has a passion for sharing the classical principles of dressage to all riders and their horses regardless of breed, age, discipline or experience. She has a B.S. in Equestrian Science and over 27 yrs professional experience training, teaching and managing in the horse industry. Having earned the USDF Bronze Medal and completed the requirements for the USDF Silver Medal, she has successfully shown through Prix St Georges. In pursuit of her own continuing education, she has had the opportunity to study with Kathleen Raine, Dennis Callin, Nancy Smith, Judy Farnsworth and other top FEI instructors. She brings this experience along with her work with several breeds in several disciplines including hunters, jumpers, reining horses, gaited horses and driving horses to Indigo Trails as our resident trainer. Her philosophy is helping riders develop confidence and harmony with their horses and uses the classical principles of dressage to achieve this goal, allowing each horse to become the best athlete they can be. She also has a special gift for rehabbing horses through injury developing them into solid, athletic partners.
As a coach, Dee has had several riders achieve USDF awards including 2013 USDF Training Level Young Rider Paint Horse of the Year, 2010 USDF Adult/Amatuer Training Level Horse of the Year, 2013 Region 5 Adult Amateur 2nd Level Reserve Champion and 2014 Region 5 Adult Amateur 2nd Level Champion. She currently has 2 students qualified for the 2018 USDF Region 2 Championships. While competing is a focus of her training program she also trains and coaches eventers, pleasure riders, hunter/jumpers and even a combined driving participant(!) allowing them to experience the huge benefits of dressage for improving their relationship with their mounts.
Her program includes training(inclusive of board) for you and your horse and/or private lessons on safe, well schooled lesson horses. On site lease options are also possible. She does accept trailer in students and is available to clinic in the Southern Wisconsin/Northern Illinois area.
